WILLOWS HAILED ONCE AGAIN FOR ENVIRONMENTAL WORK

19 September 2024

We are delighted to have seen our environmental credentials recognised for the second time.

We have recently received our second Green award from Investors in the Environment (iiE), the national accreditation scheme for businesses working to reduce their carbon footprint.

The prestigious Green award is the iiE’s highest accolade and given to companies which have made significant reductions in energy use and waste, along with increases in efficiency, recycling and sustainability.

From left to right is a white woman with dark hair wearing blue nursing scrubs, a white woman with res hair wearing blue nursing scrubs and holding a sign with the logo of investors in the environment printed on it, and a white man with short dark hair wearing dark blue trousers, a light blue polo shirt and black jacket. He is also wearing glasses. All three are looking at the camera and smiling.

We were recognised for having sustainability in mind throughout our hospital, with all team members working towards more sustainable goals.

We have also introduced further recyclable and reusable items to our day-to-day work, bought new energy-saving equipment and reduced emissions during surgery.

The report also recognised our work influencing and educating throughout the sector.

David Hindley, facilities manager here at Willows, helps spearhead our ongoing eco-friendly work as part of our ‘Green Giants’ group.

He said: “This is a fantastic achievement and we are pleased to once again have our green credentials recognised.

“We were especially pleased the report noted the improvements we have made despite a busy year offering new services, installing new equipment and seeing an increase in business.

“Our green team is making sure sustainability is always part of our decisions and processes and we will continue to do so going forward.”

Ellie West, environmental sustainability lead at Linnaeus, praised the team’s work. She said: “What amazing work again from the Willows Green Giants.

“A huge well done to the team and thank you for all the hard work that goes into the sustainability programme.”

Hannah Smith, iiE sustainability advisor, added: “A huge congratulations to the team for their work on sustainability, and for achieving Green Level certification again. We can’t wait to see what you do over the next year!”
