Your Pet’s Dental Health
Good dental health is vital for your pet’s health, and wellbeing. Dental disease is very common in dogs, cats and rabbits. It can cause halitosis (bad breath), difficulty eating, gum infections which can lead to abscess formation, and eventually bone loss and tooth loss. Dental disease can also have systemic implications and lead to poor general health and even liver, kidney and heart disease.
Dental Procedures
When it comes to pet health, prevention is better than cure. Dental checks will be carried out during routine checks at Willows and we are able to offer a range of products and diets, as well as providing advice on their correct use to help keep your pet’s dental health at the best possible level throughout life.
Regular dental hygiene at home is extremely important in keeping your pet’s mouth healthy, however there are situations where dental/oral disease may still develop, and so dental work may be advised. Such reasons can include; a diseased tooth which will cause pain and may lead to infection, a general build-up of tartar which may result in periodontal disease (infection around the teeth), gingivitis caused by auto immune conditions (the body’s immune system attacking the gums) or foreign material such as sticks or bones becoming lodged in the soft tissues.
