Diego Castinerias
In 2013 Diego enrolled in a three-year Residency and Master’s Degree in Anaesthesia and Analgesia at the Royal Veterinary College, London after which he obtained a Masters in Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Diego then moved to Fitzpatrick Referrals for two years where he was the First Anaesthetist, responsible for setting up the Anaesthesia department from scratch.
After a short time in Buenos Aires as a free-lance Anaesthetist, Diego returned to the UK and to the Royal Veterinary College as a Staff Clinician in Anaesthesia and Analgesia for a year and a half before joining Willows in January 2020.
Diego has always been interested in all aspects of Anaesthesia and Analgesia and enjoys working in busy multidisciplinary hospitals with very challenging cases such as Willows. Since completing his residency Diego has developed a particular interest in loco-regional anaesthesia techniques as a way to improve patients’ experience in the peri-operative period by providing the most effective way of treating acute pain and minimising the possibility of the development of chronic pain conditions.
Diego’s grandparents migrated to Argentina from different parts of Europe (Spain, Italy, and Austria) and he grew up in the large cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires. Diego enjoys living in multicultural environments. Outside of work, he enjoys the cultural life offered by big, cosmopolitan, and culturally eclectic cities like his hometown Buenos Aires and London and is looking forward to exploring the beat and off-beat sides of Birmingham!
